Re: term.el doesn't work

I've tried M-x term under XEmacs 21.1.14 on both RedHat 6.2, 7.1 and Debian 2.2r3, and under XEmacs 21.4.4 on RedHat 7.1 (the platform I'm writing this report on). It doesn't seem to work properly, the principal problem being that \r characters (carriage returns) are somehow not reaching the terminal emulator, so that every time you press RETURN the display stair steps like this. I've poked around in the code a bit and verified that term-emulate-terminal is simply not being sent the \r characters.
