The problem seems to be in the CLASH_DETECTION code. If you turn off
CLASH_DETECTION, then the above link problems go away. Is
CLASH_DETECTION needed under NT?
CLASH_DETECTION is only useful in a multiuser environment, or any
situation where multiple XEmacsen can be editing the same file.
