Please tell us what you _are_ on. Red Hat and SuSE distribute a whole
set of extra bugs in their versions of Linux, Red Hat and Mandrake
do the same for XEmacs. And they don't tell us about them.

It's not very likely to help, but there is an important fix to display
handling in 21.4.9rc1.
What is likely to help is if you compile with debugging information.
The backtrace you give is about as useful as a stack-smashed trace.

Again, it probably doesn't have anything to do with your crash here,
but if you value stability you will accept the default and not link to
ESD. It's evil, see PROBLEMS.

The same goes for Motif on any platform. Most problems we have in
Motif related code are Motif bugs. We can and do work around them,
but Motif is even less forgiving of any deviation from the
undocumented parts of the API than the rest of X11.
And if you have a Motif debug library and can get a backtrace with the
Motif debug info I'll give you top priority on future bug reports for
3 years.
