I'm not an autoconf hacker, nor do I play one on TV, but I seem to remember
that the real problem is that it's almost impossible to detect the case
where you have a mismatch of headers/libraries for Xaw/Xaw3D. I'm not sure
how you say "wave a dead chicken over the CPU while dancing widdershins 3
times around the system at midnight of the new moon" in autoconf.. ;)
