Mule-UCS and the Euro sign.

Hi! I’ve been seeing the same problem with Mule-UCS and the Euro sign as was Mike Fabian back in 2002, ever since I started using Mule-UCS: http://list-archive.xemacs.org/xemacs-beta/200209/msg00465.html --the Euro sign wasn’t being encoded correctly. On further investigation, it turned out that the Unicode mapping for any character set beyond the seventh, in the list of 31 in the Mule UCS sources, wasn’t happening. The source version of Mule-UCS in the Sumo tarball and in the packages directory is 0.84. Now, when I downloaded Mule-UCS-0.84.tar.gz from ftp://ftp.m17n.org/pub/mule/Mule-UCS/, byte compiled it (using the mucs-comp.el build script), put its lisp/ subdirectory first in my load-path, and then evaluated (require 'un-define), the translation for those characters worked fine. (Example; (ucs-to-char #20ac) gave nil with the XEmacs Mule-UCS package, a char that split to (latin-iso8859-15 36) with the upstream version.) So, it’s a problem with the process for building the package. I’ve checked out the packages/ CVS module, but am having trouble following the instructions in INSTALL for building a single package, or indeed any package; for the latter case, I copied Local.rules.template to Local.rules, called make, and got this: salvatore[ gmake meta-iterate.rules:30: /Sources/packages/meta-targets.rules: No such file or directory meta-iterate.rules:34: /Sources/packages/iterate-1.rules: No such file or directory gmake: *** No rule to make target `/Sources/packages/iterate-1.rules’. Stop. salvatore[ For the single package, it says to “cd ./xemacs-packages/bbdb” --there’s no such directory in the packages/ source tree that I can see. Can anyone point me towards some more docs on building the packages?
