The modules you need for this are "Swish.pm", "RFC.pm", and the
"RFC/*"
ones. The "test_search.pl" script shows how to use it... It also works
well from an HTML::Mason component.
I do ask that if you decide to work on it, that you collaborate with me
some and share what you do... You don't HAVE to, but I'd like it if you
would. My dream is that it will be a CPAN and/or Debian package
someday, and in actual use somewhere besides:
