Dear Bug Team!
I don't know if this rightly counts as a bug, but it is somewhat
annoying ... It isn't a total crash/core-dump, but quite often a nasty
hang. I wouldn't bother you with this, but I was unable to find any
references to it on the web, and am wondering if it is a known issue.
Being a total emacs freak, I do almost everything in emacs (actually
xemacs). Over the years I have never gotten used to the fact that when
I have a command inside a *shell* buffer that outputs scads of junk,
that WHEN I TRY TO MOVE THE POINT WHILE OUTPUT IS STILL SPEWING, then
the whole xemacs process hangs for a LONG time (sometimes forever ??
unless I kill the process that is producing the output) and utilizes
nearly 100% CPU. I tried the same thing in regular emacs and it
behaves better (ie no hang). I think this has happened/happens on
every installation of xemacs that I have used so far.( Exacerbated by
truncate-lines=t??? I have suspected that this may be entangled with
syntax-highlighting being on in the *shell* buffer, but I'm not sure -
I think I disabled it but I still get the offending behavior. )
