Ok; I just found out what's wrong. I ran a fresh CVS checkout of
"XEmacs", and found that the repository has indeed been re arranged
some. I can figure things out from here. Thanks.
By the way, a checkout of "." fails with an error message re "cannot
create lock file" for a directory or file starting with a ".".
Perhaps a LockDir has been configured but the permissions are too
strict?
