yeah its impressed me too i _usually_ install stuff in my FreeBSD box with a port
but i had been using the cvs version from when i was using linux
so i just kept doing it that way
and i havent had any problems with the cvs version at all
so i think using the base source is a good idea
keeps it the same as the std version then

How big are they?
not very big at all
they are based on 21.1.14
and they seem to be mostly changes to the configuring process
I think it would be good if they were available on xemacs-patches.
