XEmacs or Gentoo error?

Is this an XEmacs problem or a Gentoo problem?
Looks like an XEmacs problem to me. We shouldn't be randomly giving
C++ linkage to system identifiers, right?
It'll be a couple days before I can look at it, patches welcome.
