Indeed there have been changes to the standard LDAP C API defined in RFC1823.
Currently there's neither any Internet standard for those changes (though there
are IETF drafts circulating) nor any _released_ version of LDAP libraries[1]
using them.
I retrieved the latest draft and will download the latest OpenLDAP source code.
I am not really willing to track API changes if they are not stabilized and
part of a recognized standard (RFC). However I will try to find a solution to
make everybody happy and a patch should follow probably before Sunday.

[1] I'd really like to understand this joke of Debian packaging alpha code as
OpenLDAP 2.0 is still supposed to be ! The latest released OpenLDAP is 1.2.3
and people (except developers of course) should really stick to that.
