I'm pretty sure this isn't really possible. The "no file on this
line" refers to a line in a Dired buffer.
I'm pretty sure it did happen.
We don't have to argue about it though - I've
just posted a way to reproduce the problem (in my installation - I bet
everything will work in lots of other installations :-/ ) with a Dired buffer
open. I did not succeed in complicating the recipe to have the bug appear
with a Dired buffer closed - I guess it takes some other coincidence for
Dired to leave some buffer ghost behind... And I agree it's a Dired error
message - as far as I can remember, I've only seen the bug after opening a
Dired buffer.
