Is 21.2 a CVS-only, or are there tarballs? I am working on an NT machine
and it will be a few weeks before I get my Linux box back to where I
could try using CVS. But then, I'd nead a tarball to start from anyway
since rematerializing a whole CVS tree over 56K line is probably too
slow, yes?

21.0 is the version that's `about to be released'. Unfortunately,
it's been in that state for a while.
21.2 is the experimental version. The big change is a set of
performance improvements, especially for Mule users. It was rather
unstable 2 betas ago, but things have settled down nicely, and 21.2 is
certainly worth trying out now. I personally use XEmacs 21.2 exclusively.
