Erm, that's precisely where a lot of the pain with gnutls was! It
didn't work with Gmail at first. ISTR they fixed it by requiring an
unreleased version of gnutls, which presumably will be released before
Emacs 24 is.
There were other problems, too, but I don't remember exactly what.
