Re: Windows 21.4.5 Ready for release.

Hello Andy, I'm currently running 21.4.3 quite happily on win98. Just tried to installed 21.4.5. No obvious problems with download, but have problem accessing several packages. Got file: setup.exe 26-Oct-2001 16:23 178k Welcome window: Setup.exe version 1.2.2.11.2.2 (c) 2000 Chose: Download from the Internet Chose: Local Package Directory: C:\XEmacs-Gamma Chose: Installation method: Use IE5 Settings Chose: Select Download Site: ftp://ftp.de.xemacs.org Chose: Select Packages to install [left all in column "New"] [This screen is confusing for me; what are options/recommendations?] Packages download [Sun, ada ... calc-1.17-pkg.tar.gz, ... ] Comments: - Download time: 40 minutes (ISDN ~13 kb/s) - Some packages are quite old, some very new: Current jde: 2.29; downloaded 1.30 Current psgml: 1.22; downloaded 1.23 - Re: cygwin, a usage note would be nice (pick one; not both): xemacs-i586-pc-win32-21.4.5 and xemacs-i686-pc-cygwin-21.4.5 each took 7+ minutes Tiny window: Download complete. End. -------------- Results in three folders: cygwin32, packages, win32; with zip files in first and last. Unzipped, gives standard dirs: etc, i586-pc-win32, info, lisp, and Problems (2001-04-12). Running XEmacs-21.4.5\i586-pc-win32\xemacs.exe launches XEmacs, but with error: (1) (initialization/error) An error has occurred while loading c:\.xemacs\init.elc: Cannot open load file: paren The term 'paren' does not occur (outside of a comment) in my .xemacs/init.el. Installed as: (version) "XEmacs 21.4 (patch 5) \"Civil Service (Windows)\" [Lucid] (i586-pc-win32) of Fri Oct 26 2001 on TSUNAMI" Other problems/errors (packages not available?): - Dired does not load automatically when opening a dir. - Opening a .htm file does not load correct mode; stays Fundamental. - Creating new foo.xml also stays with Fundamental. - Cannot load psgml-mode by hand (M-x psg C-i finds no match) All of these work with my current set up (which was also created with your download tool): (version) "XEmacs 21.4 (patch 3) \"Academic Rigor\" [Lucid] (i586-pc-win32) of Thu May 17 2001 on SHALOM" Logs (setup.log and setup.log.full) attached.
