No, mozilla for example behaves as expected: it does not matter
whether I first start mozilla and then open the connection or vice
versa, while xemacs needs the connection first to be opened. So I
think xemacs is the culprit here not me OS.
FWIW, Emacs displays similar behavior at my site. I suspect the name
resolver not being made to reread /etc/resolv.conf (which gets updated
when making a connection) or something similar.
It is no problem if no network access is done with the freshly started
Emacs before the connection is made. But if there is, there is
nothing short of exiting and restarting Emacs to get it on the net.
So if somebody gets this fixed or at least a good clue about what is
happening, it would be nice to pass the details on to the Emacs
developer list.
