May I ask why you don't update your packages via XEmacs' packaging
tools?
I, for one, have my UNIX development box behind a firewall that won't talk to the
outside world.
Yes, my PC does talk to the world, and I am sure that I could do some proxy magic via the
PC to make it all happen, but it's just plain laz^H^H^Heasier :-) to grab a sumo,
unpack it and start rolling.
