Thanks for the report.
Paolo> In XEmacs 21.1 (patch 12) "Channel Islands"
The XEmacs 21.1 codebase is no longer maintained. It's possible it
was fixed by 21.1.14, the latest release in that branch. However, if
you are going to update, I recommend updating to the 21.4 branch (now
at 21.4.12).
It sounds like 21.1 has been very stable for you, and if you're not
greatly worried about this crash recurring, there is no need to
update. We will be making efforts to maintain full backward
compatibility for almost all Lisp packages (the exceptions are a
couple of Mule packages that are not supported for 21.1 anyway) for a
few more months, and I expect compatibility to degrade gracefully
after that. We will, of course, continue to try to address
compatibility issues after that; the difference is that current policy
is to defer or change new features to maintain compatibility. Later
we will decide each such case on the merits, and probably tend to
favor features when push comes to shove.
Paolo> I was just moving the cursor when xemacs crashed
Urk. From your back trace it looks like garbage collection bug. Hard
to fix except sort of accidentally.
Paolo> If you want I can mail also the core file (5MB).
No thanks, unless you can mail the machine it was generated by, too.
:-) Core files without debug symbols are basically useless.
