I think it is equally important on both Emacsen.
For Emacs, easymenu is also important to programmers who doesn't care
about XEmacs compatibility, because the native menu code sucks.
For instance would we have the autosizing environment menus in
auctex.el if FSF Emacs did not implement the moderen style menu defs
with :menu-filter etc?
