What about its basic underpinnings, namely Lisp? I am probably treading
on a very religious subject here (feel free to point me to the previous
war records) but I wonder what state xemacs or even emacs would be in if
its underpinning was Perl. Imagine the results of a user community that
large banging on the source and adding modules!
Somewhere I found and lost a perl interface to xemacs modules. Once I
find it, I will probably be able to extend my version of the editor so
much faster than I have already been able to.
