[1] For those who have a problem with subtlety, I have no idea what
the "Microsoft %e issue" is.
Microsoft's printf() always uses a three-digit exponent for %e
conversions; other implementations typically only use three digits if
the exponent exceeds 99, and two digits otherwise (this behaviour is
explicitly specified by C9X).
