I was running XEmacs remotely (over a cable modem connection) and
noticed that the toolbar was being drawn several times. (This is the
normal X version, not the Gtk version.)
I ran xemacs -vanilla and ..
- a big gray window shows up
- the toolbar is drawn
- the Beta Version XEmacs and accompanying text is drawn
- the toolbar is drawn again (each icon is cleared, then redrawn)
When I run VM, the toolbar is drawn three times.
Whenever I C-x 2 to split the window, the toolbar is redrawn. But
when I C-x 1 to go back to one window, the toolbar isn't redrawn.
It's not a big deal; I've never noticed on a local display. But I was
surprised by how long it takes to display toolbar icons and by them
being displayed more than once. I plan to turn the toolbar off. :)
