I just tried it on this very message. If I am composing it under
MH-Letter mode in XEmacs, go to the end of the To: line and hit
return, I get the error message attached to this message, endlessly
repeated. If I hit Ctrl-g to interrupt it, it stops, but expands the
minibuffer to fill almost the whole window, displaying these error
messages in the *Warnings* buffer.

Hmm, "try to edit the header" is awfully broad. Can you give a short
reproducible test case, something like "when I type text into the
Subject line", or "when I add an Fcc header line after the To line"?
Are the repeated error messages the
Warning: error: (invalid-operation (Won't change only window))
messages that appear further down in the bug report?
