Because if I veto your patch, you most likely will redo it in a way
that serves users we would like to attract to XEmacs.
I said that at the end of the msg you cited that I want to make the
toggle between specific eol types customizable, i.e., also usable for
Mac users. The question here is whether to enable toggling from eol
type nil to some other type (like b) or not (like a).
Any patch that will not allow me to toggle the eol type of a new buffer
to the dos ending (like a) is completely useless for me, unless
undecided is automatically viewed as dos eol type under Windows-NT.
But this requires some patches somewhere else, probably in C, thus not
by me. Thus I wait with a patch until this happens (and even then is
"generalized b" better than a).
