I can only hope somebody will do a load-paths-II on the file
interface. Funny thing, after all the anguish we heard at the time (I
produced some noise myself) I haven't heard any problems (Thanks
again, Michael!) with load paths in months, except for the remote
package-get stuff which no algorithm could possibly get right (you can
only default to something safe).
The file system interface is harder, since it's an every minute of
every day interface; but maybe we should bite the bullet and try to
rationalize it.
