It's caused by the delete-process at the end of smtpmail-via-smtp in smtpmail.el. The error says it the process can't be killed. I think the process may have already been exited. In any case, the mail is sent, but gnus thinks the mail has not been. Maybe I can just ignore the failure from delete-process.
