There's a story about the "MIT Crash Club", that budding hackers would
try to find ways to crash the system, and when they succeeded, they
were passed into the club. As the wannabees grew more numerous and
sophisticated, these crashes became more frequent, to the point where
the sysadmin was thinking about implementing really draconian rules.
Somebody, ISTR it was Guy Steele, came up with a brilliant idea. He
simply found a way to crash the system, and installed the `crash'
command based on that. After three days of extreme instability, the
crash club was disbanded because all the fun had gone out of it, and
the system ran happily ever after.
Unfortunately, our "crash me" button is inadvertant....
