Yes and no. Yes, there's no absolute need, because it's a big enough
bug that eventually we'll have to fix it. No, because it's not yet
embarrassing enough that somebody has actually gone and fixed it! A
little embarrassment might help get it fixed. In our defense, the
only person who really knows that stuff well is Ben, and he just
resurfaced after a long vacation/taking care of day business period.

I don't think there are any workarounds, it's deep in the C code
somewhere.
Hopefully Ben will get to it soon. Otherwise, Jerry and probably Mike
seem to know a little about it, and we can start twisting arms....
