I've merged in the most recent commits from the mainline, and fixed a couple of merge booboos in the previous commit (the patch was right, I screwed up fixing some conflicts). sjt-xft builds and runs fine for me on Mac OS X under Xorg's server. You can turn off the copious debug output to stderr by setting debug_xft to 0 in src/xft-fonts.c. I'd rather you didn't, though, in case something goes wrong. You can turn down the warnings in XEmacs from xft with (add-to-list 'display-warning-suppressed-classes 'xft) Direct bug reports to xemacs-beta, as usual.
