Famous last words!

I think "nuke" below should actually mean "Move to an appendix
labelled 'Probably Obsolete FAQs' or something like that." But the
guy who does the work makes the decision.

Remind me to follow up on this. This should NOT be in s&m files, and
it could still matter.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.0.8: can't resolve symbol _h_errno
Ben> You are using the Linux/ELF distribution of XEmacs 19.14, and
Ben> your ELF libraries are out of date.
Nuke this. Anybody still using HJL libc knows what they are doing.

Reduce this to "sed 3.0 and the vfork test on ancient versions of
Solaris were known to do this. If those apply to you, upgrade sed or
ignore the core file. If not, check for other problems."
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.0.11: XEmacs doesn't resolve hostnames.
Ben> This is the result of a long-standing problem with SunOS and
Ben> the fact that stock SunOS systems do not ship with DNS
Ben> resolver code in libc.
Nuke it. Anybody who is still using SunOS 4.1.3 knows what they are
doing.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.1.11: Translation Table Syntax messages
Ben> at Startup
Nuke it. I don't even know if we really support X11R5 any more.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.1.6: XEmacs cannot connect to my X
Ben> Terminal!
Ben> Help! I can not get XEmacs to display on my Envizex
Ben> X-terminal!
Ben> Try setting the @code{DISPLAY} variable using the numeric IP
Ben> address of the host you are running XEmacs from.
Leave it. This one will come back around again as IPv6 starts to be
deployed.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.1.7: XEmacs just locked up my Linux X server!
Nuke it.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.1.8: HP Alt key as Meta.
Ben> How can I make XEmacs recognize the Alt key of my HP
Ben> workstation as a Meta key?
XModMap questions should be collected somewhere, probably in
xemacs.texi itself.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.1.13: HP/UX 10.10 and @code{create_process} failure.
Pass to darrylo.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.1.18: XEmacs does not follow the local
Ben> timezone.
Ben> When using one of the prebuilt binaries
Nuke it (this one with extreme prejudice). We haven't done prebuilt
binaries for anything since 19.14 or so; people will think we mean Red
Hat and Cygwin.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.1.22: XEmacs won't start without network.
Nuke it.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q3.7.5: Why does cut-and-paste not work
Ben> between XEmacs and a cmdtool?
Nuke it.
Ben> Is the following still relevant? If so, is it relevant
Ben> outside of HP/UX?
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q2.1.10: Warnings from incorrect key modifiers.
Ben> Yes, this is still relevant. See above for my suggestion.
Ben> How about the following question regardling TM? TM was once
Ben> the way to get MIME support for GNUS, VM, etc. but I gather
Ben> they all do this by default now. And maybe there's a newer
Ben> version of TM?
Nuke stuff about TM, except maybe to note that it is obsolete and
unsupported.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q4.3.5: Where do I find pstogif (required by tm)?
Move to obsolete.
Ben> @unnumberedsubsec Q4.7.1: What is AUC TeX? Where do you get it?
Note that AUCTeX is now spelled without the space.
Replace with "AUCTeX is a complex and sophisticated editing package
dedicated to TeX and related text formatting languages, including LaTeX
and Texinfo. It provides support for running TeX on a file or part of
a file, include files, and of course shortcuts for entering common TeX
macros, LaTeX environments, etc, and for fontlock.
AUCTeX is a standard package provided by XEmacs. You
can get it as usual through the M-x list-packages interface. It is
also included in the (non-Mule) SUMO package. The AUCTeX XEmacs
package is maintained by Uwe Brauer <GET MAIL ADDRESS>.
AUCTeX is extremely complicated, and its developers primarily use GNU
Emacs. Not all features of the bleeding edge version of AUCTeX are
immediately ported to XEmacs; if you need these, you may be better off
getting the most recent versions from the GNU AUCTeX project on
savannah.gnu.org."
You can add references to Per and Karsten and David Kastrup, to taste.
