Why would you want to install something into a directory where
things are already installed? I know it sounds facetious, but it's
not intended that way - could you explain?
reinstall because you have changed the configuration.
Maybe I should give some for info on this if it could make things
clearer - In gentoo, where packages are installed from source, the
user controls what features to use by using flags, called use
flags. In xemacs we have a flags, mule, which controls if mule is used
or not. If that flag is toggled, by the user, the package will be
rebuilt when the user updates his system.
The problem seems to be, if I have analyzed it correctly, that the
contents of /usr/share/xemacs-21.5-b33, installed by the previous
build, is used in the current build. (But there are probably more to
it than I have realized. And maybe this is by design so that users can
update their library files and get them included in the next dump!?
Although that sounds very fragile to me and not good for a
distribution to allow. IMHO)
The goal is to create a stable built process so that a user can switch
between a mule and a no mule build, with not build errors, by
controlling the mule use flag. If I can tweak the current build
process to get that I'm satisfied. Suggestions are welcome.
Yours
