In Windows interface, it is common to display an explanatory string
in the status area when a menu item is selected. Some X programs also
do that; although, when grayed out items are made unselectable, there
is no way to read that prompt. It has been always making me angry
when I saw "Frobnicate / Grok" menu item, which was grayed out, and I
could not even get a clue to figure out what does it do when it is in
any other color...
We currently do not have such prompts (btw, why?), but this feature
would be absolutely required if we did.
