What harm could it do? Steve clearly intended to release the thing as
a non-beta. Even if would have prefered the thing to have a patch
level that's just a minor annoyance compared to the current confusion.
Steve already said he doesn't have the time at the moment.

I think it is very brave of Charles to ask the question because he is
the one all the windows user are going to pester for those nice
intaller .exe's.
Charles and I are now on the record as talking you in to it.
