Yes and no. No, there's no provision for multiple rows in the
toolbar. Yes, you can have multiple toolbars, up to 4, one on each
edge of the frame. You can also switch toolbars in place. The VM
mailreader actually uses both techniques, providing a second toolbar
(by default at the left edge) and switching the *menu*bar in place,
providing a button to toggle between the main menubar and the VM
menubar. A similar technique could be used to swap toolbars.
It's not what you asked for, but there's a fair amount of
flexibility there.
Yes and no, I actually use vm, so about this possibility
I knew
already, the reason I asked is, a lot of people who are considering
from switching from windows to Linux complain, that there is no 'good'
editor usually for latex. When I point out (X)emacs the respond is,
yes but it is not comfortable, it almost has no icons, then the
products they price indeed do have a lot of icons.
I had a look in Ben's todo list meanwhile and it seems that he
considers something like this for the 22 series, but may be I
misunderstood. I think that indeed such an enhanced feature would
attract much more users.
