The function find-tag-internal never looks between ^? and ^A and in my eyes
that's a bug. I've fixed this yesterday and it seems to work, but I've
not tried it with inexact matches or with regular expressions. I need
this changes, because I'm using tag tables, where the first part of
an tag table entry is the real string found by etags in the source
file and the second part (that's the one between the ^? and ^A) is the
name of the constructed function or method (eg: some languages like
Clips builds accessor methods from the slots of classes). With my
changes I'm now able to find the definition of a slot, when I'm
searching with the name of the method.
In the original function there's a strange implementation of the
search. I don't understand why it was implemented this way, so it's
possible, that my changes breaks something else. Therefore I've
included the changed file in this mail. Please try it and let me know
if it works or not. I'll send a patch to xemacs-patches if it works.
