I like it. Modeline real estate is at a premium, even if we do get
scrollable modelines from Didier.
The docstring needs improvement though. Note that (1) the mode
indicator string normally should begin with a space, (2), you can
disable the indicator entirely with the empty string, and (3) that
empty string should be empty, and not contain a single space.
I kinda like the name "font-lock-modeline-indicator" but not all that
strongly. "-string" has the advantage of making the type clear.
