Yes but what is interrupted is the smoketest and the ability to deliver
a distribution.
The smoketest problem might look bad but the reason for having the
smoketest is to find problems early so they can get fixed. In this case
the smoketest has indicated a problem, we know the reason so next we
are waiting for it to get fixed. As I said it might not look good with
red builds but might be accepted for major work.
If the smoketest would have been smarter it would have built each
package separately and we would only have a red auctex build. Would
that have been better and acceptable?
Concerning the second problem with making a distribution I thought
that it was dependent on whether all packages was in a state of
readiness. And that means more than just being able to compile it.
Maybe there is a third problem as well. How ready will the synced
package be when it builds. Is a longer testing period needed before it
can go into the distribution? The branch was never discussed before we
thought the patch to XEmacs.rules was needed so we didn't consider
using a branch for this reason.
