steve baur and problems with footnotes

Hello I tried to send steve baur an email concerning his footnote package. However the address <steve(a)xemacs.org&gt; was refused. Does anybody know how to reach them. Besides does anybody know about a footnote package which is suited for files edit various times. When I do this with steve's package then in the next session, the existing footnotes are forgotten. (his package is thought for messages for which it is not important to keep track of existing footnotes). Thanks Uwe Brauer
