Allways check these kind of problems with the smoketest-builds. :-)
Same problem found in the 21.4-no-mule-build and it builds from a
clean, "make distclean", tree. See:

(Unfortunately the smoketest is in bad health due to other unsolved
problems. Please-help-mail posted earlier about the failure for other
xemacs versions. But the reported problem does occur in the 21.4 no
mule build.)
