Yes, Yes! At the very least, I would like an option to leave some
colours for other applications to use.
Before the "-install" option, Netscape used to grab all the colours.
The XEmacs FAQ suggested started XEmacs first, so that Netscape
couldn't steal all of the colours. Now XEmacs is the guilty program,
forcing us to start other programs first.
