This behavior goes back to "Norwegian" at least; it's definitely not
present in 20.4. I'm not sure when I'm going to have time to poke
around, but it seems likely that the code that selects Mule fonts at
initialization is not the code that selects fonts in the options menu.
In any case, with the same font specifier (AFAICT, this is the first
time I've tried to read one), you get different behavior at init and
after using options.
Ugh.
The care and feeding of Mule fonts doesn't seem to be documented in
Info at all :-( I'll look into doing something about that.
