Selection highlighting disappears

In XEmacs 21.4 (patch 4) "Artificial Intelligence" [Lucid] (i386-unknown-freebsd4.3) of Mon Jul 30 2001 on galibier configured using `configure --with-prefix=no --site-includes=/afs/informatik.uni-tuebingen.de/i386_fbsd32/include --site-libraries=/afs/informatik.uni-tuebingen.de/i386_fbsd32/lib --with-menubars=lucid --with-scrollbars=lucid --with-xpm --with-jpeg --with-png --with-dialogs=athena --with-widgets=athena --mail-locking=file --pdump' Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: I don't know which action triggers this, but sometimes the selection highlighting goes away, i.e. I press C-SPC and move the cursor around but there is no "grey region" anymore. I can still use M-w to copy and C-w to kill the region, but I don't see what I am doing. Once this starts, I can only end it by quitting XEmacs.
