Some certainly would benefit. Alexey, please be careful to write your
function so that it can be used to substitute any part of the keysym
translation table.
It is _not_ your responsibility to write the tables for Latin-2 or
Shift JIS, but please do document the format for others.
It might be nice to be able to define such translations on the fly
from Lisp.

Much better IMO, but as I understand it, conceptually there is only
one keysym translation table. So how about the interface
(x-set-keysym-translation 'Cyrillic_HARDSIGN ?\xff)
(x-set-keysym-translation-subset 'cyrillic 'koi8-r)
(setq koi8-r (x-get-keysym-translation-subset 'cyrillic))
etc?
