Bugger! I never would have thought something like php-mode would have
Mule related problems.
OK, I'll install a non-Mule XEmacs and see if I can't track it down.
Have you had any luck? (I don't want to duplicate effort).

Hmm, yeah. Any volunteers?
I build the packages pretty regularly, and I don't use mule, so I'm a
pretty good candidate. I guess I'll now think of myself as an
auxiliary member of the package team.
