this is the known bug, I think. try rm `find . -name
'auto-autoloads.el*'` (or the equivalent by hand, I think the only one
of those that matters should be lisp/auto-autoloads.el*).

When I removed modules/auto-autoloads.el* it stopped complaining.
However without lisp/auto-autoloads.el* it didn't start at all.
