21.5 Mule UTF use un-define (Mule-Ucs)

Hello I have heard no very positive things about Mule UCS in the sense that nobody besides its author really understands it. that's why I am asking is it recommendable to use it via (require 'un-define) and (set-default-coding-systems 'utf-8) thanks I am asking this because there are some issues with the latest babel.el which now works with Xemacs (thanks to some extra work by the author) but still has some coding issues, which I will report in the next email.
