You mean you do `rm -rf $prefix/xemacs-21.1.*' after every build,
or that it doesn't exist? In my case, it doesn't exist. I guess that
wasn't clear.
Interestingly enough, I just discovered that even though XEmacs gets
very upset about non-existence of the emacs-root under $prefix, it
uses movemail from the build hierarchy. If that generalizes to the
other directories, there won't be any problems.
Hmm ... the following still doesn't work right (I get errors about
"Symbol's function definition is void: custom-set-faces" loading
.emacs; -vanilla does get rid of that, I haven't tested to see what
else might be bogus) but it shuts up the complaints about "Couldn't
find obvious defaults":
