All I'm saying is that, especially with respect to the Windows code,
I'm very much a "manager", not a "maintainer." I'm juggling a
lot of
balls at once, and I get confused. It helps a lot if you really spell
things out for me: my "short-term memory" about the context of any
given patch is pretty minimal.

I'm not ashamed of getting something out, and even in hindsight it
seems like it was the only way to get it done.
But I do regret the number of broken Windows releases.
I'm quite confident you'll do a lot better, because you build daily on
that platform and you know it thoroughly. And the basic decisions
about what goes in will be a lot better, because you don't have the
same biases I have toward stability (ie, "stasis"). The Windows port
will be a lot stronger for it.
