have you actually seen this on Solaris7? That one report on c.e.x
looked kind of fuzzy to me and only mentioned a couple of X errors if
I remember correctly.
Can somebody with access to Solaris 7 build with motif and try this?

I have 21.2.10 built under Solaris 7 with minimal configuration
options. ldd confirms that it is using the Motif library and not the
Athena widget library. I'm also running 21.0.b63 under Solaris 7, but
it was built at Solaris 2.6. I have not seen any problems like this
with either version.
My gnus configuration is not correct so I'm not connecting to a nntp
server so it may not be a valid test, but I cannot reproduce using the
steps suggested.
