You should upgrade to the current version (21.4.8); crashes are a symptom of a bug in the C code, and there's no way to be safe without fixing the C code and recompiling. If you're going to do that, I don't see a point in not having the most recent code; in any case, we're not going to provide 21.4.1-specific patches.
